Tactic of the year 2023

In the above position, I had just played 1.Rb6 and my opponent responded with the clever looking 1..Rb8? How does White win from here?

Answer: 1.Nf5! Kf7 2. Qh7!!

An instant kill. White threatens deadly penetration with Qg7+ with mate on next move. Black can defend g7 with the b8 rook but will have to give up his queen. The game continued 2..exf5 3.Qxf6+ Kg8 4. Rxb8+ Bc8 5.Qxa6 and my opponent resigned.

Final position. I really do feel sorry my opponent though. What he must have thought was a great move turned out to be a losing move in the end. I have been there myself so many times.

Lesson here: Never underestimate your opponent resources..
